How Our Dallas Dryer Vent Cleaning Works
A dryer pushes hot, wet air and lint out of the house through a duct. Over time, lint sticks to the walls of that duct and packs into the turns. The air slows down, the dryer runs longer, and the heat has nowhere to go. Here is what we do on every visit.
- Check the airflow first. We run the dryer and check how strongly air comes out of the outside vent, so you can compare it with the result at the end.
- Pull the dryer out. We disconnect the transition duct (the short hose behind the dryer) and clean the lint from it and from the back of the machine.
- Brush the full run. Rotary brushes and a strong vacuum clear the vent from the dryer to the outside wall or roof cap, including the bends.
- Clear the vent hood. We clean the outside flap or roof cap and remove any nests or debris that block it.
- Test again and reconnect. We hook everything back up, run the dryer and check the airflow one more time. You get photos and a short note on anything that needs attention.

Signs of a Clogged Dryer Vent
A clogged dryer vent rarely fails all at once. It gives warnings first. Call us if you notice any of these:
- Towels and jeans need two or three cycles to dry
- The top of the dryer is very hot to the touch
- A burning or hot-lint smell when the dryer runs
- The laundry room feels warm, damp or sticky
- Lint on the floor behind the dryer or around the outside vent
- The outside vent flap barely moves, or does not open at all
- It has been more than a year since the vent was cleaned
Dryer Vent Cleaning Service
Our dryer vent cleaning service covers houses, townhomes and condos across Dallas, from Lakewood and Lake Highlands to Preston Hollow and Uptown. We also serve Highland Park, University Park, Richardson, Garland, Mesquite, Plano, Addison, Carrollton, Rockwall, The Colony and Sunnyvale.
The price is simple. Runs up to 15 feet are $89. If your vent is longer or exits on the roof, we look at it first and give you the price before we start. Dryer vent cleaning is also included in our $149 Winter Safety Package, along with a basic chimney sweep of one flue, a basic Level 1 safety inspection and a smoke and CO alarm test. That package ends February 28, 2027.
Why Dryer Vents Catch Fire
Lint is dry, light and burns easily. When it builds up in a vent, it sits right in the path of hot air from the dryer. The U.S. Fire Administration reports that failure to clean (31%) was the leading factor in home clothes dryer fires from 2018 to 2020. A clean vent is one of the easiest ways to lower that risk.
A clogged vent also costs you money. The dryer runs longer for every load, the heating parts work harder, and the machine wears out sooner.
Dryer Vent Problems in Dallas Homes
Two problems cause most of the clogged vents we see in Dallas: long vent runs and the wrong kind of duct.
Long Roof Vents in Two-Story Homes
Many two-story homes in Dallas and the northern suburbs put the laundry room in the middle of the house. The dryer vent then runs up through the walls or attic and exits on the roof. These long runs clog faster than a short vent through an outside wall, for three reasons:
- More length and more turns. Every bend is a place where lint collects.
- Gravity works against you. Lint falls back down the vertical part of the duct.
- Roof caps trap lint. Many roof caps have screens or flaps that catch lint and block the air.
Roof vents are also harder to reach and are where birds like to build nests. If your dryer is on an inside wall or upstairs, tell us when you book so we bring the right ladders and longer brush rods.
Foil and Vinyl Dryer Ducts
Behind a lot of dryers we find white vinyl hose or thin, crinkly foil duct. Both are a problem. Their ridges trap lint, they crush easily when the dryer is pushed back, and vinyl can melt. Dryer makers and the residential building code call for metal duct for the vent run, with a short listed transition duct behind the dryer.
If we find vinyl, foil or a crushed duct, we show you photos and tell you what to replace. We never add extra work without asking first.
How Often to Clean a Dryer Vent
For most Dallas homes, once a year is a good rule. Clean it more often if:
- You run the dryer almost every day
- You have pets that shed
- Your vent is longer than 15 feet or exits on the roof
- You notice any of the warning signs above
Between visits, clean the lint filter after every load and wash it with soap and water every few months if you use dryer sheets, which can leave a film on the screen.
Gutter Cleaning
Clogged gutters are another job that is easy to put off. We clear the gutters, flush the downspouts and bag the debris. Our gutter cleaning in Dallas starts at $149 for a one-story home, and we can do it in the same visit as your dryer vent or a chimney sweep.
Chimney Animal Removal
Birds and small animals do not only move into chimneys. They also nest inside dryer vent hoods, especially on roof vents. If we find a nest in your vent or hear animals in the chimney, our chimney animal removal service handles it humanely. Want the outside of the house cleaned too? We also offer pressure washing for driveways, patios and brick.
